The Peterborough Business Social Club is a network of key individuals which carries its members forward in their social and professional pursuits. Business owners and key employees of local businesses mingle at our events and together represent an unmatched wealth of knowledge and resources.

Our 2023-2024 season will include a variety of events aimed to provide a relaxed and social environment to facilitate the development of relationships amongst our members. Why Business Social Club?

The Peterborough Business Social Club offers a unique networking opportunity for business professionals in and around the Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes region. A mix of both professional and social functions, the Club strives to offer its Members a number of formal, business casual and sport-related networking events each year, between the months of September and early June.

Our Club welcomes both male and female participants, and is made up of business owners, sales persons and managers from an exceptionally wide variety of industries. For more information on our current membership, please see our “Membership Directory”.

Benefits of Membership

Each Club event is carefully planned to provide attendees with an opportunity to promote their businesses; whether formally as a featured sponsor or guest speaker, or more casually during meeting dinners or social hours.

While The Peterborough Business Social Club encourages our Members to bring guests to experience some of our functions, membership does have its exclusive privileges.

As a Member of the Club, you will also be given opportunities to purchase discounted tickets to our Featured Speaker Night and to ‘take the mic’ at our Members’ Night and tell the Club more about your personal and professional successes. Membership Options

General membership includes attendance and dinner at all events. Some events (such as golf and curling) require an extra fee for participation. Honorary Membership are available for members with 25 consecutive years of membership.

President's Message

Dear Peterborough business community.

Welcome to the Club that gets together in person on a monthly basis to socialize with adult beverages and enjoy amazing events.

Who are we? The Peterborough Business Social Club (PBSC) or more accurately the Peterborough BS Club. We are a Club steeped in over 75 years of rich history, you may even have some memorabilia that says Peterborough Sales and Ad. We enjoy classic activities like golf and broken-down golf carts, and our notorious Christmas Gala with trips to faraway places. Whether we are throwing rocks, or axes, or even just throwing one back, our events are thoroughly enjoyed and celebrated. We have members at the mic, speakers night, tasting events, Yuk Yuk's comedians, Tiki parties and even magicians!

Are you concerned that you have forgotten how to socialize in a public setting? Are you afraid you will have forgotten to put pants on to attend a meeting? Can you talk to someone without it being through a Zoom call? If you suffer from any of these then PBSC is the Club for you! Our Club is one of inclusivity and a simple smile and wave from a familiar face will put you right at ease. Club members are the best at making everyone feel welcome. Come join us and meet great people. Give yourself the opportunity to join a positive networking environment. Expand your brand and increase your network in one of the most relaxed settings available. If you want fun, interactive and creative events, then we are the Business Social Club for you.

To attend all these great events and enjoy the benefits of the Club, we have a new pricing schedule for members for this year. We have 2 options for membership; General Membership $599.00 + HST (with an optional $150 + HST for your Spouse or Partner to come and enjoy all the events, not just Gala!!) or Honorary Membership $350.00 + HST.

I am extremely happy to announce that our board has grown from last year with Barry Kilborn of Home Shield Permanent Metal Roofing Ltd. serving as our Sergeant at Arms. Jeff Lingard of Inclusive Advisory continues to serve the board as our Treasurer again this year. Steve James of TD Canada is our Past President while Mike Baxter of CIBC Commercial Bank, Glenn Millar of Darling Insurance, Tom Sangster of Royal LePage, Paul Anderson of User Friendly Systems and Shonagh Pickens of SKP Law continue to serve the board and offer knowledge and insight that is much appreciated. As for your President, I am the Creative Director at WeDesign and I am truly honoured to be serving you and this Club while enjoying the Club’s Membership growth.

Hi my name is Barry Kilborn and I am Co-owner of Home Shield Permanent Metal Roofing Ltd. I have been a member of the club since 2011 and a board member  since 2012. I am happy to serve as the Club's President for 2019-2020.

This year our club changed it's name after 70+ years as the Peterborough Sales & Ad Club. We decided on the Peterborough Business Social Club or Ptbo BS Club for short to better identify with our broad membership base. We have business pros from every walk in the Ptbo community and are simply building on the great history of the Sales & Ad Club. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario – Eric  moved to the Kawarthas to have more time in the great outdoors. His passions include hunting, fishing and grilling on his Primo Oval XL and Napoleon 665 Pro. In his former career he worked at a golf course, playing 18 holes everyday – he is our resident golf teacher. Eric is a licensed gas and oil technician and he heats his workshop with a Kozy Heat Nicolette. He started his career with Friendly Fires as an installer back in 2008 and has now moved into the sales division. Eric’s attention to detail and technical background are a winning combination.
